Anthology...?

Hey, folks.

So months ago Tom and I were talking about things to do with the meet ups to make them more interesting/fun/what-have-you. One of the suggestions was to have a theme at each meet and we'd all have to draw something in that theme, we've since done this a couple of times and it worked well.

Another idea we had was once we got a few numbers at the meets, as we have had these past couple, to suggest maybe making an anthology containing work from all those that attend who wish to contribute. This is an idea I am quite keen on and was wondering who else was. Also, how to go about it, do we pick a theme and all do a piece, say, 3ish pages long, do something autobiographical, do we all pick our thing to work on or any other option, I'm open to suggestion.

Let me know your thoughts either here in the comments, via the Twitter or on the Facebook page.

Thanks!

September Meet Up

Wow! What a turn out this month! We had nine attendees today.

At the Wig and Pen today were Lisa, Ed, Tedd, Impi, Mike (www.nodicecomic.com), Katie (www.puzzledkittyproductions.com), Emma (www.emm-art.com), Mal and Rob. Much talk of comics, movies, cartoons and the like, as well as drawings a-plenty.

This is the biggest meet up we've had since founder Ben Hutchings moved to Melbourne. After Ben left just over 12 months ago the meet up took a hard blow, we were lucky to get three people to show up most times. Tom, who now runs the FaceBook end of the meet, went to Impact Comics in the city and asked to put up a poster in the window (the banner above this blog) and if they'd take flyers advertising it, they said yes and slowly but surely we've regained numbers through the help of Impact, for which I can't thank Mal and the rest of the guys enough.

In addition to the monthly meet ups, a few regulars have also started a weekly "Pub Sketch" at the Pot Belly pub in Belconnen, every Monday evening, we generally show up about 7:30 and as always, anyone is welcome to turn up.

Also, you may have noticed that there are no pretty pictures with this post. Sorry, I didn't take any photos of any work. If you were there today and care to share anything you did, just email them to canberrameetups@gmail.com and either Tom or I will post them up here to showcase them.

Finally, if you are among those that showed up today, thank you for helping make this what it has become and will hopefully continue to be. It's wonderful to see the talent in this city and of course meet some really great and interesting people.

-Rob.
